John Raye
| What Do We Do Now? by John Raye Its over. The votes have been counted. Barack Obama is the 44th president of the United states, the first Black man to be elected to the most important position in America, and arguably, the entire world. He has been elevated to the most powerful position on earth. He is now the most famous … the most powerful personality on the planet. Tongues wag, ears hear… and eyes follow his every move. The rest of his life will be lived in a fishbowl. His wife, Michelle, is the most famous woman on earth. Their two girls are destined to become the two most famous little girls on earth. Same for the little dog that will move into the White House with them, come January 20th. Heaven help the little dog…whatever his name may be. He'll become famous too! So what does this all mean? What will this historic election do for you? What does it all mean ? Better still, what do we do now? First, please understand this election will not eliminate hatred, racism and discrimination in America. Not everyone is celebrating this election, in fact, 57 million Americans voted for the other man and his empty-headed running mate. The election made many people feel good about themselves. It made others, at least 57 million, madder than hell. Still, it caught the attention of the whole world. It put some "juice" back into the spirit of many people, particularly those of African descent. It made people pay attention, first to themselves, then to each other. Now we know, for sure, that all white people are not mean, evil, bad or racist. We also know that all Black people are not crazy, confused, lazy, violent or filled with self-hate and self-destructive instincts. For the first time ever, hope springs eternal in the hearts of the poor, the hated, the rejected …. the despised. You can see it, feel it… sense it in the happy eyes and wide smiles of people everywhere. Still, this election, as much as it helps to restore our moral compass, will not eliminate poverty, stupidity or ignorance. There will be just as many fools and foolish people as there were before this historic election. People will still lie, cheat, kill and steal. But this election, overall, will change or impact everyone, regardless of skin color, political or religious persuasion. Never again will it be the "same oh..same oh". So what do we do now? Let me begin with a few recommendations; some things you should do...that is to say, must do now! And by the way, make that a thing… "we all must do now!" *Become conscious: Take some time to reflect and meditate. This election came as the results of a power and a force that none of us can see, hear, touch, taste or feel.Obama has been ordained, anointed and appointed to serve in this position. His victory was assured, unstoppable and unavoidable because it was mandated by the Creator who made heaven and earth. This is, in short, a God thing. Nothing else makes sense. So get acquainted with the God-spirit in you. This election was under divine authority; they couldn't steal it! We are all spiritual people, dressed up in physical bodies. This election points to the elevation of a new consciousness, a God consciousness. Never again should you allow yourself to feel sad, or to worry about what you read, see or hear in the news. As long as you do your part, God will do His part. Just look at what He did with Barack and Michelle. This was our long-awaited victory. Even the ancestors are shouting hallelujah! * Get involved: This election is a wake-up call, a once-in-a-generation opportunity. Study and get to know your elected officials. Support and promote Obama's new programs and policies. Learn how to follow good leadership. Become nosey . Know what's going on in your community. Serve or volunteer your time on something or with someone working on a cause or mission. Get acquainted with your neighbors. Go help somebody. Stop watching so much TV and cut off the radio. Start reading good books, newspapers and magazines. Upgrade your thinking; educate yourself Do something that brings meaning and fulfillment in your life, and in the lives of others. *Guard your health: Pay attention to the food you eat. Is it helping or killing you? Stop eating meat. Switch to a plant-based diet. Go holistic. Supplement your diet with all-natural, herbal products. Drink more water. If you are too fat, too heavy or too obese, get up off your James Brown and do something about it. We have too much heart disease, kidney disease, cancer, diabetes, lupus, gout and high blood pressure. If you really love yourself, your friends, your family and your children, then stop smoking those cigarettes. Show some love to your body. Take care of it. Love and respect yourself! Neither money, nor a good education, can buy good health. Don't wait until you lose it, before deciding you want to keep it! *Practice gratitude: Nelson's Mandela's election caught the attention of the whole world, but Obama's election electrified the whole world. Both men are principal-centered, and both are gratitude-based. A universal principal teaches us this principal; gratitude leads to plenty. It is impossible to give, share or serve without having the same come back to you. When you do, share or give freely of your time, your service or other resources, all will come back to you, and if your motive is true, proper and in order, it will find you. In fact, it will flood you with a spirit of great, never-ending abundance. And you can dance and celebrate in the overflow! A grateful attitude will always find, create or attract a similar attitude. In short, your good may be delayed, but never will it be denied. It will find you because what is put out, good or bad, always come back to the sender. *Build more and better relationships: avoid the "I'm-not-a-people-person" kind of thinking. Surround yourself with people who are positive and pro-active. Get to know people who know more than you; learn from them. But please do your best to avoid toxic people. Become time conscious. Always show up on time, and do what you say you are going to do. Become a center of influence. Let your word become your bond, and you'll never have to "fake it until you make it!". Learn how to love yourself, and how to trust yourself. Self love becomes self-evident with the acquisition of self-knowledge, so take some time to get acquainted with your " hidden self", or your "other self". Better people skills will make you a better person, so quit being afraid to greet and meet people, even total strangers. Kind words and a warm smile begets the same in return. A very wise man once gave me this piece of advice; "if people like you…they will bring you money!". Keep it simple; be real likeable! *Become self-reliant: Obama had neither money nor friends in high places when he started out as a community organizer in Chicago. He was raised by a single parent, a mother who survived, for a time, on food stamps. Time out for excuses. Everything you need to become successful has already been given to you. Look inside, not outside for answers. So stop depending on other people to provide you with a job, an education or an opportunity. Depend upon God, and upon yourself. If you can't find a job or have become jobless, then create or make a job for yourself. Make your own opportunity. Become an entrepreneur. Go into business for yourself. You can make the impossible, possible. Barack has already proven that. Find or make a product, or service, then start selling it. You will never be broke or without means, when you learn how to sell. The biggest business in America right now, and in the foreseeable future, will be the sick business. So get yourself into the health and wellness business, and you'll never have to worry about making money, or making ends meet. More opportunities, (and more millionaires) will be made in the wellness business than in any other industry. Become aware. When you see a trend, get in front of it, not behind! Wellness will be the biggest trend in the 21st century. So pay attention. My mother always told us… "when you know better, you are supposed to do better!" Well, there is nothing else for me to say to you. So, please go now, and just do better! ----John Raye, is a 3rd year cancer survivor, and author, "Dreamtime: Finding Success In America". "HOW TO CALL POLICE WHEN YOU'RE OLD AND DON'T MOVE FAST ANYMORE." George Phillips, an elderly man, from Meridian, Mississippi, was going up to bed, when his wife told him that he'd left the light on in the garden shed, which she could see from the bedroom window. George opened the back door to go turn off the light, but saw that there were people in the shed stealing things. He phoned the police, who asked "Is someone in your house?" He said "No, but some people are breaking into my garden shed and stealing from me.." Then the police dispatcher said "All patrols are busy. You should lock your doors and an officer will be along when one is available." George said, "Okay." He hung up the phone and counted to 30. Then he phoned the police again. "Hello, I just called you a few seconds ago because there were people stealing things from my shed. Well, you don't have to worry about them now because I just shot them." and he hung up. Within five minutes, six Police Cars, a SWAT Team, a Helicopter, two Fire Trucks, a Paramedic, and an Ambulance showed up at the Phillips' residence, and caught the burglars red-handed. One of the Policemen said to George, "I thought you said that you'd shot them!" George said, "I thought you said there was nobody available!" First Black President- John Hanson
| The First President Of the United States Was A Black Man (John Hanson) Thaddeus Matthews Let me start black history month a few weeks early. Barack Obama has plans of running for President of the United States, But will he be the first Black President or the 8th Black President? I know this posting will stir controversty but George Washington was not the first President of the U.S. Let's take a look at history. A "Black" Man, A Moor, John Hanson Was the First President of the United States! 1781-1782 A.D.??? George Washington was really the 8th President of the United States! George Washington was not the first President of the United States. In fact, the first President of the United States was one John Hanson. Don't go checking the encyclopedia for this guy's name - he is one of those great men that are lost to history. If you're extremely lucky, you may actually find a brief mention of his name. The new country was actually formed on March 1, 1781 with the adoption of The Articles of Confederation. This document was actually proposed on June 11, 1776, but not agreed upon by Congress until November 15, 1777. Maryland refused to sign this document until Virginia and New York ceded their western lands (Maryland was afraid that these states would gain too much power in the new government from such large amounts of land). Once the signing took place in 1781, a President was needed to run the country. John Hanson was chosen unanimously by Congress (which included George Washington). In fact, all the other potential candidates refused to run against him, as he was a major player in the revolution and an extremely influential member of Congress. As the first President, Hanson had quite the shoes to fill. No one had ever been President and the role was poorly defined. His actions in office would set precedent for all future Presidents. He took office just as the Revolutionary War ended. Almost immediately, the troops demanded to be paid. As would be expected after any long war, there were no funds to meet the salaries. As a result, the soldiers threatened to overthrow the new government and put Washington on the throne as a monarch. All the members of Congress ran for their lives, leaving Hanson as the only guy left running the government. He somehow managed to calm the troops down and hold the country together. If he had failed, the government would have fallen almost immediately and everyone would have been bowing to King Washington. In fact, Hanson sent 800 pounds of sterling siliver by his brother Samuel Hanson to George Washington to provide the troops with shoes. Hanson, as President, ordered all foreign troops off American soil, as well as the removal of all foreign flags. This was quite the feat, considering the fact that so many European countries had a stake in the United States since the days following Columbus. Hanson established the Great Seal of the United States, which all Presidents have since been required to use on all official documents. President Hanson also established the first Treasury Department, the first Secretary of War, and the first Foreign Affairs Department. Lastly, he declared that the fourth Thursday of every November was to be Thanksgiving Day, which is still true today.

Obama First Black President?
| By Aysha Hussain You've seen the headlines: "Are Americans Ready for a Black President?" "Is Obama Black Enough?" "Obama: America's First Black President?" Ever since the nation first met Illinois Sen. Barack Obama in 2004, his race has been called into question more times than Michael Jackson's. Obama is clearly a black man, but is this really a breakthrough? Some blacks say Obama isn't "black enough," which seems ironic because for many blacks, former President Bill Clinton was "black enough." In 2001, Clinton was honored as the nation's "first black president" at the Congressional Black Caucus (CBC) Annual Awards Dinner in Washington, D.C. Were there other "black" presidents? Some historians have reason to believe people don't really understand the genealogy of past U.S. Presidents. Research shows at least five U.S. presidents had black ancestors and Thomas Jefferson, the nation's third president, was considered the first black president, according to historian Leroy Vaughn, author of Black People and Their Place in World History. Vaughn's research shows Jefferson was not the only former black U.S. president. Who were the others? Andrew Jackson, Abraham Lincoln, Warren Harding and Calvin Coolidge. But why was this unknown? How were they elected president? All five of these presidents never acknowledged their black ancestry. Jefferson, who served two terms between 1801 and 1809, was described as the "son of a half-breed Indian squaw and a Virginia mulatto father," as stated in Vaughn's findings. Jefferson also was said to have destroyed all documentation attached to his mother, even going to extremes to seize letters written by his mother to other people. President Andrew Jackson, the nation's seventh president, was in office between 1829 and 1837. Vaughn cites an article written in The Virginia Magazine of History that Jackson was the son of an Irish woman who married a black man. The magazine also stated that Jackson's oldest brother had been sold as a slave. Lincoln, the nation's 16th president, served between 1861 and 1865. Lincoln was said to have been the illegitimate son of an African man, according to Leroy's findings. Lincoln had very dark skin and coarse hair and his mother allegedly came from an Ethiopian tribe. His heritage fueled so much controversy that Lincoln was nicknamed "Abraham Africanus the First" by his opponents. President Warren Harding, the 29th president, in office between 1921 and 1923, apparently never denied his ancestry. According to Vaughn, William Chancellor, a professor of economics and politics at Wooster College in Ohio, wrote a book on the Harding family genealogy. Evidently, Harding had black ancestors between both sets of parents. Chancellor also said that Harding attended Iberia College, a school founded to educate fugitive slaves. Coolidge, the nation's 30th president, served between 1923 and 1929 and supposedly was proud of his heritage. He claimed his mother was dark because of mixed Indian ancestry. Coolidge's mother's maiden name was "Moor" and in Europe the name "Moor" was given to all blacks just as "Negro" was used in America. It later was concluded that Coolidge was part black. The only difference between Obama and these former presidents is that none of their family histories were fully acknowledged by others. Even though Obama is half-white, he strongly resembles his Kenyan father. And not only is Obama open about his ancestry, most people acknowledge him as a black man, which is why people identify Obama as the first black president of the United States.
